Paris has 16 metro lines. Most of the trains are named by the year they were built and start with MP if they have rubber wheels and start with MF if they have steel wheels.

MP 1989 AUTOMATIC trains
These trains have rubber wheels. These trains are the same as the 1989 trains, but there is one big difference... there is no drivers cab - the trains are completly automatic. There is no driver or any member of staff on the trains. These trains are currently running on line 14.
When the train gets to the last station, there is an announcement for all passengers to leave the train. Then the train carrys on beyond the last station, and reverses back onto the other platform for the return journey. I decided to get on the train to go beyond the last stop. When I did this it was in the evening, when the service is being reduced. When I got on the train, it went up past the station, but instead of stopping and reversing back the train carried on to the end of the tunnel, where the trains are parked. I was trapped at the end of the tunnel. After using the emergency intercom the people at the control room realised there was still someone on the train so they reversed it back into the platform and put it back into sevice.

MF 2000 trains
These trains are replaceing the 1967 trains on line 2 and some have started running. These trains don't make much noise when going round a bend, because each of the two wheels on an axle turn seperatly.
